Here are some frequently asked questions
about hosting. We are continually building on our FAQs, so if you do not
find the answers you are looking here email us at support@cozomo.com
or see our video training tutorials.
| Q 1. What is Web Hosting? |
A. Web hosting is the service
that makes your website available to others on the internet. When
you rent web space you are renting space on a very fast computer
that is connected full time to the internet via a high speed connection.
When someone types in your web address, like www.your-website.com,
they are automatically directed to the web hosting company computers
where your website is located, like Cozomo.com |

| Q 2. What is a Domain
Name? |
A. A domain name is your
internet address, like www.cozomo.com. Just as your house or apartment
has its own unique identifying address for the post office, so does
each and every website on the internet.
The actual address used by computers on the internet is in a numerical
format and is referred to as an IP, or Internet Protocol, address.
An IP address takes the form of four series of numbers separated
by periods. An example of an IP address is 215.55.255.145, and as
you can see this would not be easy for most of us to remember.
So to compensate, the domain "name" system
was created, allowing us to use easy to remember names instead of
numbers. Its much easier to remember a website named "cozomo.com"
than it is to remember a string of number such as 215.55.255.145. |

| Q 4. How do I build
a website? |
A. There are lots of ways
to create a website. You can enter all of your HTML code manually
or can use a "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get)
program to do it for you.
Assuming you are new to webpage design, we would suggest using
a tool to help build your pages. The most popular program for building
websites today is Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver is an easy to use HTML editor that allows you to build
a website without knowing how to code HTML. If you choose to use
Dreamweaver, we recommend two helpful books for beginners:
1. Teach
Yourself Visually: Dreamweaver MX 2004
2. Dreamweaver
MX 2004 for Dummies
Another option is the Cozomo SiteStudio. We offer all of our customers
this free website building software. SiteStudio is an easy, instant
website builder integrated into your Cozomo Web Control Panel that
works through your browser.
To use Cozomo SiteStudio, login to your Cozomo Control Panel and
click on the SiteStudio icon .
By default, SiteStudio is turned off. Click the 'Off'
icon to turn SiteStudio 'On' .
Follow the easy, step-by-step instructions and you will have your
website online in no time. |

| Q 5. I already have
a domain name, can I still host with Cozomo? |
A. Yes you can. If you registered
your domain name with a third party registrar like GoDaddy, then
you need to 'point' the domain name at the Cozomo Name Servers.
This means, that when someone types your domain name into a web
browser, the browser knows where to look for the website.
The process is fairly simple. Login to your domain registrar account
(like GoDaddy.com) and click on the domain you wish to point at
Cozomo. Click on the Domain Name Server or DNS link and change the
information to NS1.COZOMO.COM and NS2.COZOMO.COM
and apply the changes. It might take up to 24 hours to see the changes,
as all the name servers in the world need time to update.
Note: If you registered your domain name though another hosting
company, then your domain was probably registered through a third-party
domain registrar. Contact your old hosting company and ask how to
change your domain DNS information. If your domain is in fact registered
through a third party registrar, then you can deal directly with
the third party registrar company and you do not need to go through
your old web hosting company. Remember, you own your domain name,
not your hosting company. |

| Q 8. How do I set
up my email with an email program such as Outlook? |
A. To setup your email using
an email program such as Outlook, you will need four pieces of information.
In the Cozomo system, this information is formatted as follows:
1. Your incoming mail = mail.your-domian-name.com
2. Your outgoing mail = mail.your-domian-name.com *
3. Username = your-user-name@your-domian-name.com
4. Password = Your Password
Different email applications will have different setup processes,
but they will all require these four pieces of information. Check
the help section of the specific application you are using for instructions
on setting up email accounts.
For more information on this, see our video
tutorials.
*
This configuration is for sending email from
your Cozomo account. If you choose to send email via your ISP (Internet
Service Provider), then you will need to set it up as per their
requirements. This will be something like smtp.your-ISP.com and
your ISP password. Check with your ISP for setup instructions. |

| Q 10. What is FTP? |
A. FTP stands for File Transfer
Protocol and is a standard Internet protocol like HTTP (Hypertext
Transfer Protocol), which transfers displayable webpages. FTP is
the simplest way to exchange files between computers on the Internet
and is most commonly used to update and maintain websites. You will
need an FTP client to access your Cozomo server and to upload and
download your webpages.
There are lots of good FTP clients available. We recommend two
user friendly FTP clients. Tango
FTP for windows (only $10.00 with Cozomo discount) and Transmit
for Mac ($25.00) |

information is formatted as follows:

2. a username = your cozomo username
